Sprinkles Cupcake ATM In New York

780 Lexington Avenue
(between 60th & 61st streets – near Bloomingdale’s)
New York, NY 10065
4, 5, 6, N, Q, R subway lines to 59th street
open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Did you know about this?!!

I just contacted them on a whim to see if it dispenses gluten-free cupcakes and they answered YES!!!

Are they safe?

I asked: “How do you make the gluten-free cupcakes and are they safe from cross-contamination in the bakery?”

Sprinkles response: “We bake our gluten-free cupcakes using separate mixing bowls, pans, spatulas, etc.  Everything is very clearly labeled. We always take extra care to wipe down surfaces thoroughly between every batch of cupcakes.  We keep our gluten-free cupcakes in the back of our bakery on its own covered baking rack – away from all our other cupcakes.  We package gluten free cupcakes separately and always take a fresh glove to handle them.”

Wow! Sounds good! (They do contain corn, though, but I’m still in love with the idea!)

Here’s a video showing how the cupcake ATM works:

From the official press release:

Sprinkles Cupcakes Launches a Cupcake ATM in The Big Apple!

New Yorkers can get their cupcake fix 24 hours a day with an automated cupcake machine.

NEW YORK (March 17, 2014) – Sprinkles Cupcakes has announced that a Cupcake ATM will debut
in front of its New York bakery on March 25, 2014. In March of 2012, the company launched the world’s first Cupcake ATM in Beverly Hills, California and received worldwide press surrounding the novel concept. New York will receive Sprinkles’ sixth machine, which will be constantly restocked day and night with a variety of freshly baked cupcake flavors.

Machines are currently found at the store’s Beverly Hills, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas and Las Vegas bakeries.

“I conceived the idea of an automatic cupcake machine after having late-night sugar cravings while pregnant with my second son,” said founder Candace Nelson. “Even as Sprinkles’ founder, I couldn’t get my midnight cupcake fix! I thought ‘there has to be a way’ and so the concept of the Sprinkles Cupcake ATM was born!”

The high-tech machine can hold up to 760 cupcakes at a time, dispense up to 4 cupcakes with the swipe of a credit card and employs a robotic arm to select the cupcake of choice, maintaining it upright as it travels to the customer. While the adjacent bakery is only open for business 12 hours a day, behind the scenes, it is essentially a 24-hour operation. Thus, a cupcake from the ATM will have been baked only a couple hours prior, regardless of the time it is purchased.

The Sprinkles Cupcake ATM has its own social media pages which will announce all updates and contests: and

So, I’m sooooooo excited about this!!! Reminds me of the 24 Hour Church of Elvis in Portland, Oregon. hehehe

Eat a cupcake for me, please!!!

Wow! That’s awesome. Any chance they’d make a GF/dairy free cupcake. I know a lot of celiacs who are dairy free as well as GF. Pleeese.
