107_0766_1The west coast barista in me was excited to finally have found a respectable east coast soy latte at Jack’s. The foam alone was something to get excited about (made with organic and gluten free Silk brand soymilk). And as if that isn’t tempting enough to get you inside, there is also a locally made amaranth granola to be enjoyed! Lydia added some apple to hers and it was as yummy as amaranth is going to get!! So, get your lazy butt out of bed early one day and head on over to experience a tasty, healthy and fun breakfast.

Jack’s also might be a fun after dinner coffee stop since Tuesday nights they have live music and Thursday nights they show 16mm movies. I wonder if anyone ever requests  “Smelly Cat”?

I went up to NYC today for the first time since being diagnosed with Celiac a year and a half ago. I went to NYU, now in Philly for law school and there is nothing here, no restaurants or anything!! So I went to Risoteria on Bleecker and had some pretty good pizza, some amazing cookies, and the best panini I have had in ages! And the beer, tastes like Yuengling, my favorite. I then went to Whole Foods and bought 3 six packs and a cooler just to bring it home with me! For beer girl from birth, I am just ecstatic! Hopefully the appreciation of gluten free lifestyles will move down to Southeastern PA someday, I can’t wait!

Hey, Lydia, I have to say, your picture made my day. I was doing “field duty” up here at Fort Drum, and life improved immeasurably when I clicked on the link for this update.

I hope you don’t mind me saying so.

I feel like crying!!!!!!! Finally, a fun way to get my daughter involved with her disease and to show her that other “cool” chicks have it and live a happy, healthy and fun life. She’s had Celiac since she was two and she is 13 now and not yet interested in doing much research on her own. I think you girls are an inspiration for all young teen chicks living this life-style. You girls are fun, smart (NYorkers:) and embracing this way of life with enthusiasum—- Keep up the good work!!!!

I WOULD LOVE TO BUY A SHIRT….BUT NOT SURE IF THEY ARE AVAILABLE YET?
WILL YOU BE POSTING ANYTHING ABOUT HOW TO GO ABOUT GETTING ONE?

    THANKS SO MUCH!

Great site! I was diagnosed 4 years ago this month – after being misdiagnosed for 3+ years. At 33, although I am much happier (and healthier) in my wf/gf lifestyle, it is still a struggle – especially because my other half is a gluten-loving, pizza and bread addicted man! Thanks for the laughs, information and inspiration. I am referring your site to every celiac I know…my little sister has a 21 year old friend who was recently diagnosed and I think she would feel sooo much better after a visit to your site! Thank you!!!

When/where can we get t-shirts? Totally love them.
