I’ve never actually watched an episode of Jersey Shore, but I’ve seen promos for it and I’ve heard plenty of water cooler talk about it. I wonder if tourism has gone up in the area since the show has aired?

Well, it looks like The Situation there is pretty enticing for those of us that are gluten-free. Thanks to Theresa Cavallo-Paterno, you can have a civilized tea experience at The Scone Shoppe in Point Pleasant. I know that I would love to go to a proper tea with gluten-free goodies, so I thought that this news would excite you too! Theresa sent me some fresh scones and they looked and smelled amazing. They do have dairy in them, so I had to rely on Kim and the glutenators at my office to review them. They all gave them rave reviews on both taste and texture. I can say that they smelled scrumptious.

Here’s how Theresa described her “shoppe” to me, “In October of 2008 I wanted to create the place to buy unique, tempting, gourmet scones, but we’re actually more than just scones. We’re a breakfast and lunch cafe and a tea house, an all around homey gathering place.”

“The Scone Shoppe kitchen is not a completely gluten-free environment. In order to create a gluten-free order safely in our kitchen, every gluten-free order is made early in the morning prior to opening any other flour products.”

“When a dear friend’s son was diagnosed with celiac disease I thought about how hard it must be for him not to be able to eat whatever he wants. After doing some research, discovering the ingredients that needed to be altered and substituted, experimenting with my recipe and some trial and error, I was able to bake fresh gluten-free scones that are a delicious, tasty option for people who may never have been able to enjoy a scone before. It is such a wonderful and rewarding feeling to be able to do this!

Just be sure to let us know 24 hours in advance if you need scones from our gluten free selection. I normally charge $23.00 per batch of gluten-free scones, however, if the customer mentions Celiac Chicks I will take $5.00 off their first order. A batch of scones equals 8 regular sized scones or 16 minis. And yes, we do ship. Shipping costs $11.00. We hope to see you soon!”

OK people, now go and eat some scones for me, please!!!! And be sure to come back and tell us all about your Jersey Shore experience! Later, I have to go work on my tan and tease my hair.

That place is darling! Those teacups remind me of my grandma’s china. I haven’t had a scone in a hot minute…I’ll have to remember that for when I make it out to the Jersey shore. What’s the statute of limitations on that discount offer? ;)

Why don’t you give them a call and ask? I’m not sure. Or put the addresses in mapquest to see them both on a map and the route to and from…

    Have fun!
