Starbucks Is Talking Gluten-Free Again!

Bye bye budget, Hell-o Latte Factor!

A lovely reader (and fellow blogger) alerted me to Starbucks new request for your gluten-free wishes.

So, go ahead and tell'em what you want, why you want it, and how you want it. Here are the questions they want you to answer:

-What specific gluten-free products would you like to see in our stores?

-Would you prefer to see it individually packaged or unpackaged?

-How would you like to learn we have gluten-free products? For example, would you like to see it on a sign or would you prefer the barista tell you?

-Where would you like to see gluten-free products in the store; in the pastry case or placed elsewhere?

-The ingredient costs of gluten-free products tend to be higher, so would you understand if we charged more for the gluten-free version?

BE SURE TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS ON THE STARBUCKS BLOG.

Please excuse the polite cyber yelling above, but a few people got confused last time and posted their wants in our comments section here. I just want to be sure that they read all of your great ideas. Feel free to comment here, but be sure to comment over at the Starbucks blog.

P.S. The amaretti cookies they mention, well, I eat them, but I couldn't get a solid answer from the manufacturer that they were made on a safe assembly line or facility, so I never told you about them. I'm wondering if anyone else ever got the skinny on them?

    Please consider offering gluten-free items at Satrbucks. I do not frequesnt you as much because I am limited on what I can purchase. if you added bakery and sepcialty items, you would see me 5 days a week!

    I love your coffee in the store and to grind at home. I wish you would offer your baked goods gluten-free…I certainly would frequent you more often……..Ann

    I discovered I had Celiac almost two years ago. I crave to be able to go back to
    Starbucks and enjoy coffee and a muffin. I also travel a lot and Starbucks is always in the airports–I just pass it by. Please give us some gluten free goodies again.
    I will be back at your doorstep again.

    There is not a better treat for me than Starbucks coffee and a Mariposa Brand Biscotti or Brownie- already individually wrapped! Wow that would make my day!

    I stopped buying coffee at Starbucks as a general rule once I stopped eating gluten. The reason is that I find their coffee too strong to drink without some sort of sweet or baked good. I don’t walk around with sweets in my purse, so often I bypass Starbucks or coffee alltogether!
    I have also alerted my blog readers to visit the Starbucks blog and provide input, even if they don’t drink coffee there. I think the more that people see the word gluten free, the better our chances of educating others and creating awareness.

    I don’t do starbucks, but that would be great if gluteners and included. But I have a question.. what kind of gluten free listings do you have for PA?? We are never mentioned. NY is too far :)

    I think that a glazed donut and a simple muffin that would be enjoyed by everyone would be a great idea on a daily basis for breakfast time. A cookie , brownie or cupcake on alternating times would be good for dessert. It would make a person who has celiac very interested to come in to see what dessert would be there on a daily basis.

    I not only have celiac, but am allergic to egg-whites and peanuts, and my children have dairy and corn allergies. Therefore, it would be nice to see dairy-free, egg-free, gluten-free items. They could have a special sticker or sign by the price that indicates what it is free of: Free of gluten, dairy, nuts and egg (free example). Sprouts grocery store does this with a colored sticker on the grocery shelf that says Gluten Free. All I have to do is visually scan for those stickers and I can find a “safe” product to buy. It saves me so much time so that I don’t have to read through ingredient lists on every product.

    The menu could have a Gluten Free section that could start with a few items and grow as Starbucks adds new choices, or simple have an asterisk that states “We offer gluten free items. Please ask to see our gluten free menu.”. And of course, the gf items could be listed on Starbucks web site and a sort of “press release” to all celiac groups around the country via the Internet could be sent.

    I left my suggestions on the Starbucks blog. It is so nice when companies listen to the opinions of their customers.

    I added this to the Starbucks blog as well: This is at least the 3rd time in the past 2 years that SBUX has asked these same questions, but still has done absolutely nothing about putting *anything* GF in their stores. Because of this issue, I am no longer a customer of theirs.

    I agree with many others have said here. If Starbucks offerred gluten free muffins or cookies I would buy their products. Thank you.

    Hey!! i just heard that starbucks is going to begin to have gluten-free items again. they are going to release a chocolate chip cookie, sugar cookie and a cinnamon cookie i believe, all of which are gluten-free. Happy GF living and happy 2010!!
