The signs are everywhere: pumpkins, squirrels chasing after falling acorns, crumpled leaves blanketing the pavement, apples. Cozy lighting keeps me content inside my homey home unlike the summer sun that invited us outside to play. [deep breath] After our Indian Summer here in the city, Fall is finally here!
This CeliacChick has grown tired of moonlighting. Corporate job by day, CeliacChick blogger by night- if I have the energy. Reminds me of the saying,"The spirit is eager, but the flesh is weak". So many interesting things on my to do list, but not much time or energy to share them with you, until now. Yay! I’ve taken a whole month of vacation from my day job in order to, first and foremost, catch my breath. I’m a homebody at heart forced into the daily grind. I have it good at my day job, only gratefulness for that really, but I love CeliacChicks. It’s my creative outlet. So, this time will hopefully help me to turn a new leaf, a fresh dewy start on catching up with you and other projects in order to return to work refreshed. Yes, this break will definitely limit the crisp dollar bills in my wallet, but I’m confident it will mentally and physically be worth every penny!
Many of you have asked me, "Where is Kim?" Yes, we’ve missed Kim and her wit here in the gluten-free world. Well, Kim is taking a break for awhile. She has been super busy with her stressful job combined with living in her new house while doing a complete remodel. When I say "complete remodel" I mean down-to-the-skeleton-of-the-house remodel. I think you understand.
So Toots, you’re stuck with me for the time being. Don’t worry, there is a lot to look forward to: giveaways, book reviews, restaurant reviews, fun new products and recipes, heck, there’s even a trip to Disneyland!
This week is starting things off with a bang being that our cyber friend, Gluten-free Girl (and The Chef), will be in town and we can share in the celebration of her recent wedding and exciting book debut at Strawberry Fields in Central Park this Saturday. Please come for fun and bring a gluten-free treat to share, if you wish.
This coming Sunday there is the Colin Leslie walk in Rye, NY. Hope to see you there…and I’ll see you online more frequently!
Excuse me while I go peruse my recipe collection…oh, and any requests out there?

We went to WDW this year and were thrilled with their efforts to feed their celiac patrons. They always sent a sous chef out to the table before ordering & brought out a basket of fresh from the oven (and likely the freezer) GF rolls. They were yummy & they seemed on top of their game when it comes to accomodating dietary needs.
Ceci’s Mom- Thanks for your Disney story! They are all about the guest there, eh? Can’t wait to tell my Disney story!
I understand completely about a 30 day breather from a stressful job. Why do you think I live in a travel trailer? I worked at a corporate job in Atlanta for 20 years. Now that I work at campgrounds, I get about a month off twice a year. I really have to pinch pennies, but I am infinitely happier.
I would like see some recipes that are inexpensive to make, as I am going to be taking 3 months off between jobs, starting in mid November. Anyone got a good gluten free Mac & Cheese recipe? Soups and stews would be nice, too.
Groovy Baby!
I am relatively new to your website and enjoy its creative content. Kudos to the both of you!!
The crabby patty picture caught my eye…do you HAVE a mouth watering GF crabcake recipe?? I would just die and go to heaven if you did!!
Looks like we need to come up with some economical gf recipes along with a gf crab cake recipe! I’ll get on it.
Hi there – I am new to the US and am coming to NY for the first time in mid-December for 4 days, am eating out the whole time – any favorites/must go to places? What about a 4 day GF NY itinery?!!
Ooh, I’m jealous! I can’t wait to see all of the gluten-free goodness you come up with.
you know – you could set up a whole business doing GF tours in NY! Sourcing hotels that can cater, restaruants near tourist stuff, off the beaten track tours… I’d sign up in a second!
Thanks Holly! Yeah, I’ve been emailed about that before. Hmm…
I’ll get to work on your itinerary!
Kelly- Congrats on the vacation- I, too am taking off in November for a needed voo-la vacation! I was at the Colin Leslie Fair, but you hadn’t set up yet when I was free and couldn’t sneak fom my table when I saw your t-shirts hanging up! My husband did snag me a celiac chick button, which by the way, performed double-duty to cover the spot where my shirt tasted the gluten-free bar-be-que sauce!
Sorry I missed you, was hoping to say hello and tell you how I’ve been enjoying your blog for over a year now! Perhaps at the next gluten-free event!
Julie
Kelly, enjoy your break. I am going on a much-needed vaca to California next week so I can totally relate. A month would just be blissful. Enjoy your time off. I look forward to the upcoming posts.
Thanks, Erin! Enjoy your vacation!
