Last Tuesday night was the Cooking By The Book class that raised money for the Celiac Disease Center At Columbia University. I'm confident that I can say everyone had an excellent time. Good food, good wine, and good company were had while learning new kitchen skills.
Cooking By The Book has been hosting cooking events for corporate and private clients for almost 20 years! Classes take place at the custom designed SOHO loft, equipped with state of the art kitchen equipment, or at prime locations around the city. People are divided up into teams and assigned to a chef who will teach them how to cook one of the courses to be served that evening. At the end you are given a secret code to take home and enter at the Cooking By The Book website in order to download the recipes and/or look at photos from the evening. Cooking By The Book has taught team building skills through the culinary arts to such well known companies as Google, Yahoo!, Marriott, Chanel, Coca-Cola, MAC, Nordstrom, Merck, and Pfizer. Oh, and the United Nations!
Definitely consider coming to the next event for the Celiac Center, or possibly rethink your next company outing. This would be a refreshing change of pace, and you probably could figure out a favorite charity to benefit at the same time.
