The gala on October 15th was super fantastic! Of course, the food was all gluten-free. The bread above was provided by Everybody Eats. The hallah was especially delicious! The cake was made by Everybody Eats too. I have to confess, the wine I drank made me throw all caution to the wind and I cheated (in regards to my dairy and corn issues) and indulged in the cake. I'm still recovering, but it was worth the momentary lightness of being that only the taste of butter can bring!

The Mandarin Oriental Hotel is about as posh as it gets with views of city lights and Central Park.

Of course, what really makes an event is the people. And there are some pretty amazing people within our gluten-free community. I was disappointed I didn't get to talk to, or even see, everyone I had hoped to catch up with. There were over 400 people in attendance!
This year the honorees were: Colin Leslie, Foods By George, Rory & Bruce Teitelbaum, and Shire.
These are the sweet people responsible for super teen Colin Leslie.
These ladies are part of the backbone of the large and organized Westchester Celiac Disease Support Group. Oh, how I love them! They are very unassuming about all of the work they do, and usually camera shy, so I'm surprised I got this nice shot of them.

These two beaming cuties, aka The Celiac Sisters, came up and introduced themselves to me. They are another great example of young people contributing to the community. Last August they had a Benefit dinner at Cafe Rustica in Great Neck with
over 100 people in attendance and raised over $9000 for the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University! Check out their super chic celiac disease awareness tshirts that look very Juicy Couture.
