Wednesday night was the 6th Annual Celiac Disease Center Gala Reception. The theme of this year's benefit was "Advancing Early Detection". All of the food was gluten-free and the event was at the gorgeous Metropolitan Club. It was really fun to meet so many people that I had previously only known through emails.
It was difficult with the limited lighting to take a photo of this amazingly beautiful space, but I tried. This room had a table full of delicious gluten-free salads and appetizers. Of course, what really made the evening special was the good company!
Dr. Peter Green addressed the crowd in the dining area. Congrats to Dr. Green for his article that was published yesterday in the New England Journal Of Medicine!
Remember Gordon Jenkins, aka The Breadless Horseman, the adventurous guy who hiked the Appalachian Trail to raise money for the Columbia Celiac Center? It was really fun to meet him in person! Here he is with my new friend, Megan.
Here are Mr. & Mrs. Jenkins, the proud parents of The Breadless Horseman. This sweet southern belle is going to come up with a gluten-free traditional southern sugar cake recipe to share with us all!
George and Ceil of Foods By George were there too!
Remember Dr. Doug Hertford, who gave us the skinny on Blue Smoke having a gluten-free menu? Well, I finally had the pleasure of meeting him and his charming wife, Amy.
Here is the lovely Mrs. Green, as in Dr. Peter Green's wife (left), and Dr. LaPook (center) with his wife, Kate Lear (right). Does anyone have "the perfect gluten-free cupcake recipe" they'd like to share with Kate?
I found my buddies Steven Singer (left) of GlutenFree.com and Alan Olshan from the Paul Taylor Dance Company (right).
It was a really great night and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again at the next fundraiser.
